A Helpful Overview of the Consumer Controlled Environment for Varied Audience Levels

This is a great read for varied audience levels. The beginning of the book looks at the transition of marketing from the business controlled to consumer controlled environment present today and assesses the need to develop a strategic social media presence in order to thrive within this environment.

From the opening section, the book delves into a comprehensive look at many different social media platforms. This portion of the book was particularly helpful. This broadened my understanding of "social media" from Twitter and Facebook to include such venues as Reddit, Wikipedia, and iTunes. Along with this broadened understanding, the book highlights key demographic information, best practices, and helpful tips on how to determine if a particular social media channel is appropriate for a particular cause.

Lastly, I think Quesenberry does a great job of appealing to different learning styles. Obviously, the text for readers who are able to consume and comprehend, case studies for those who need a more tangible example, and a social media plan and additional exercise for readers who prefer to learn through doing.

In conclusion, I deeply enjoyed this book. It covers a wealth of topics, and is especially beneficial when paired with other outlets that dig deeper into specific social media channels once you assess your particular needs. This book is a fantastic spring board to greater understanding of the current consumer controlled marketing environment.

I bought this book for a class and really appreciated how the content not only gave great insight into the history of social media but into where social media is headed. The strategies for a social media plan and calendar were also incredibly clear and easy to follow! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to become more social media savvy.

Baldev Raj Nayar is currently Emeritus Professor of Political Science at McGill University in Montreal. He is the author of over a dozen scholarly books dealing with international relations, political economy, comparative politics and South Asia.

T.V. Paul is Professor of Political Science at McGill University. He also serves as the Director of the University of Montreal-McGill Research Group in International Security (REGIS). Fun Calendar

For those of you who like hunting, guns and B+ models this is a calendar for you! Its fun to have on your wall, but frankly most of them are not top material for a calendar. The ones who know how to hold a gun aren't that pretty, and the ones who are pretty do not know how to hold a gun. It's right on par with the quality one should expect for a publication like this, but I do like it enough that this is my second year purchasing one.

Michael Minch earned his Ph.D. from the University of Utah. He is chair of the Philosophy and Humanities Department at Utah Valley University and director of Peace and Justice Studies. He is the author of The Democratic Theory of Michael Oakeshott.

Christine Weigel earned her Ph.D from Temple University. She is chair of the philosophy department at Utah Valley State College.

Hard to read!!!

The book is really hard to understand. There is no glossary. The author assumes everybody knows the terms he uses in the book. Philosophy is a beautiful subject, there is no need to make us feel like it is useless. The book just makes students feel dumb. Glad I got an amazing professor at University of Utah, professor Shannon Atkins, that makes the subject interesting.

It's hard understanding all the writings, but that's to be expected I suppose

I rented this book from Amazon for a required philosophy class at Utah Valley University. I'm just lucky that my teacher is able to explain the concepts very well because I have a really hard time understanding most of the principles from this book! Hopefully you get as lucky as I was to find a good teacher. If you go to UVU, it's professor Atkinson.

About the Author
Christine Leigh Heyrman is Associate Professor of History at the University of Delaware. She received a Ph.D. in American Studies from Yale University and is the author of Commerce and Culture: The Maritime Communities of Colonial Massachusetts, 1690-1750. Her book exploring the evolution of religious culture in the Southern U.S., entitled Southern Cross: The Beginnings of the Bible Belt, was awarded the Bancroft Prize in 1998.

James West Davidson received his B.A. from Haverford College and his Ph.D. from Yale University. A historian who has pursued a full-time writing career, he is the author of numerous books, among them After the Fact: The Art of Historical Detection (with Mark H. Lytle), The Logic of Millennial Thought: Eighteenth Century New England, and Great Heart: The History of a Labrador Adventure (with John Rugge). He is co-editor with Michael Stiff of the Oxford New Narratives in American History, in which his most recent book appears: 'They Say': Ida B. Wells and the Reconstruction of Race.

Michael B. Stoff is Associate Professor of History and Director of the Plan II Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin. The recipient of a Ph.D. from Yale University, he has been honored many times for his teaching, most recently with election to the Academy of Distinguished Teachers. He is the author of Oil, War, and American Security: The Search for a National Policy on Foreign Oil,1941-1947, co-editor (with Jonathan Fanton and R. Hal Williams) of The Manhattan Project: A Documentary Introduction to the Atomic Age, and series co-editor (with James West Davidson) of the Oxford New Narratives in American History. He is currently working on a narrative on the bombing of Nagasaki.

Mark H. Lytle received his Ph.D. from Yale University and is Professor of History and Environmental Studies. he has served two years as Mary Ball Washington Professor of American History at University College, Dublin, in Ireland. His publications include The Origins of the Iranian-American Alliance, 1941-1953, After the Fact: The Art of Historical Detection (with James West Davidson), America's Uncivil Wars: The Sixties Era from Elvis to the Fall of Richard Nixon, and, most recently, The Gentle Subversive: Rachel Carson, Silent Spring, and the Rise of the Environmental Movement. He is co-editor of a joint issue of the journals of Diplomatic History and Environmental History dedicated to the field of environmental diplomacy.

Brian DeLay (Ph.D., Harvard) is Assistant Professor of History at the University of California, Berkeley. He specializes in colonial and 19th century U.S. and Mexican history. His scholarship has won awards from the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic, the Western History Association, the Council on Latin American History, the American Society for Ethnohistory, the Pacific Coast Branch of the American Historical Association, and the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations. He is the author of War of a Thousand Deserts: Indian Raids and the U.S.-Mexican War (Yale, 2008), and is currently at work on a book about the international arms trade and the re-creation of the Americas during the long nineteenth century. As with all methodologies, Task-Based Language Teaching has been promoted by some and criticised by others. In addition, the definitions of 'task' abound, allowing everyone to call themselves proponents of TBLT.

TBLT is, however an approach, rather than a methodology, and this book does well to set the parameters from the beginning. It is also an important book, in that it documents a large TBLT programme (1200 students) that took place over 10 years, and was successful. an Undergraduate's perspective

I have just finished my first course in analytical chemistry. I was armed with the recommended textbook by Harris and also my nerdy instincts told me this book (Vogel's) is also handy.
Well for one it is not an introductory textbook, it has all the relevant information an individual can ever need at any (note ANY) level of analytical chemistry. Whether it be work, postgrad or like myself the crappy years of undergraduate study.

This book has several strong points and if used in the appropriate context will serve to be the best analytical book money can buy...ever.... Firstly it is small, light and hardcover (I am so surprised that they fit all the information that they did) so its good for brushing up on exams and taking to the lab whilst doing lab work.

Secondly it is appropriately organized with a first chapter introducing fundamentals (not basics btw) of analytical chemistry from theoretical POV.

It later organizes itself into genre of technique i.e. chemmometry, chromatography and spectroscopy to name the important few. The book provides adequate information on context of these tests, the chemistry behind the tests and how they are supposed to be conducted.

The material presented here is succinct, straightforward and so it makes the best reference. Its basically the technical and practical dictionary for analytical chemists. Vogel's has an established name for a long time; it has provided the best textual resources on practical organic chemistry and also inorganic chemical analysis. This is a truly remarkable addition to the collection that supersedes all other practical chemistry textbook. It is ideal for researchers, medical researchers, students, lecturers, lab technicians and anyone with basic knowledge of general chemistry who wants to excel in analytical chemistry.

This is really relevant after the first introductory course to analytical chemistry; you will find Harris redundant afterwards and would probably stick to this. I suggest buy this and borrow Harris or any other prescribed textbook from your library. The second half of the book deals with VLSI design issues related to mixed-signal design.
